First up was completing the new bench. Traditional Morgan build, it will outlast the plane and probably all of us.......
A re-organisation of the shed was needed to make space for the new addition. Much easier to work on with room for our legs.
I spent the day working on the control column systems. It all looks simple on the drawings but lots of little 'things' have to be completed.
For example the brass bushings need reducing (squarely), reaming out and finishing. This took a good couple of hours.
Located most of the hardware components and assembled the structure without many issues, all now flows and rotates freely.
Finally set it up in the fuse, only make up nuts at the moment, but all looks fine. The control sticks are VERY long, I know others have trimmed them and I may do likewise after seeing how much space we have (or don't have).
Dad spent the day continuing to fight with the fuel valve and airflow system.
One of the first task was to empty some of the related bags. The more bags we empty the more 'bits' we end up with.....
The fuel valve mounting was drilled as far aft as possible and all looks promising.
Today was another slow day, the system stuff seems to take much longer then you first think.
Other things worked on was a major order of bits from the US, it still amazes me how it is cheaper for me to order parts directly from the USA plus shipping rather than buying locally.
Tomorrow I'm off-site to visit a local engine shop that I've been recommended. They may be able to build an engine to spec, we will see.
